What are the trends of trip planning site users - Infographic
The number of trip planning websites is nowhere near as high as it once was, as many a startup has tried and failed to get traction to survive.
One of those that has stayed the course is TripHobo, which this week has shared a raft of data about what it members are looking for and doing when using the site.
Alongside the usual most popular destinations or attractions, etc, TripHobo’s analysis from “millions” of monthly users has some interesting findings about broader booking trends from those that use niche platforms such as its own.
For example, there is a correlation between relying on plans shared by others the longer the duration of a trip.
Sadly, there is no detail on “sharing”-type accommodation preferences, but in traditional areas the hotel dominates but other types (bed and breakfast, in particular) are also popular.
Homestays are a growing consideration for its users, as well as supposed “off-beat experiences”.
But interestingly, weekend trips are seen as the biggest growth trend amongst users.
